It’s time to give your teeth the royal treatment. Fortify their natural roots by restoring their form and function with durable dental crowns.
If your teeth are suffering from severe damage and decay, you can protect and restore them with dental crowns. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped “caps” that are placed over a damaged tooth in order to restore its functionality. They can also be used to cover a tooth that has been treated with root canal therapy, or to complete a dental implant procedure. Because they can be made with a variety of materials, dental crowns are a versatile solution that can be used to treat a wide range of restorative and cosmetic dental issues.
When placed and maintained properly, dental crowns can last for up to 15 years!
You don’t need to rely on dental insurance to get the care you need. We strive to keep quality dentistry affordable and accessible by providing a variety of ways to finance your treatment.

Dental crowns serve as a versatile solution for a range of dental issues. They effectively protect and strengthen teeth that have been weakened by decay or damage, preventing further problems. Crowns also help improve a tooth’s appearance, offering a cosmetic enhancement for teeth that are discolored or poorly shaped. Additionally, they can make chewing more comfortable by restoring the tooth’s shape and surface, which can improve overall digestion and health. With proper maintenance, crowns can last for many years, making them a durable and cost-effective treatment option.
Dental crowns are durable and can last on average between 5 to 15 years. This lifespan can vary based on the material of the crown, the health of the tooth underneath, and your oral hygiene habits.
Caring for a dental crown is similar to caring for your natural teeth. Regular brushing with fluoride toothpaste and flossing is essential. Even though crowns are resistant to decay, the tooth underneath is not, so maintaining good oral hygiene is crucial. Regular check-ups and cleanings at New Tempo Family Dental will also help ensure the longevity of your dental crown.
Remember, a crowned tooth is not immune to gum disease or decay, so it's important to maintain good oral hygiene and visit Dr. Leonetti regularly for check-ups. If you notice any discomfort, loose feeling, or a chip in your crown, contact us immediately at (480) 491-5000.
At New Tempo Family Dental, the procedure for getting a dental crown usually involves a few steps and a couple of visits. During your first visit, Dr. Leonetti will examine your teeth to determine the best treatment plan for you. If a crown is necessary, she will prepare your tooth by removing its outer portion so the crown will fit. Any decay is also removed at this time. An impression is then made to provide an exact model for the crown. You will likely leave the office with a temporary crown to protect your tooth while the permanent crown is being made.
In the second visit, the temporary crown is removed, and Dr. Leonetti will position and fasten the new crown to the tooth with a special adhesive. Your dental crown is then polished for a seamless fit and natural look.
Dental crowns, often referred to as "caps," are a type of dental restoration that completely covers a tooth or dental implant. They are typically used when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are often used following a root canal procedure, or to cap a dental implant. Crowns can be made from a variety of materials and are made to match the color of your surrounding teeth. This ensures a natural, flawless appearance.
