Not all of us are lucky enough to keep a full set of natural teeth. Dentures offer an affordable solution for patients in need of a new smile.
Dentures are a type of removable teeth prosthetics for replacing damaged and missing teeth and surrounding gum tissue. These prosthetics, which are mostly made from acrylic, nylon, and metal, fit snugly on the gums to restore functionality and ensure a complete smile.
Dentures can improve speech and digestion?
New Tempo Family Dental offers partial dentures to replace a few missing teeth on either the upper or lower jaw. Our partial dentures are made from high-quality resin or porcelain to replace one or a few missing teeth. They consist of a metal or acrylic framework that holds the denture in place.
We also offer complete dentures, which are dentures made to replace teeth on the upper or lower jaw. These dentures consist of an acrylic base that rests on your gums with artificial teeth mounted on the base. You can also opt for implant-supported dentures that have better stability and retention.

During the first consultation, our lead dentist, Dr. Leonett will ask you questions pertaining to your dental and medical history. They'll also conduct a few tests including X-rays and TMJ tests to determine whether you’re a good candidate for the prosthetics. Dr. Leonett will then fit a tray filled with alginate or elastomers to take impressions of your teeth.
The wax try-in is a wax version of your original dentures. Dr. Leonett will create a wax denture that you wear temporarily as you wait for the actual dentures. It also allows them to check the fit and comfortability of the dentures before making final adjustments.
Once your actual dentures are ready, Dr. Leonett will call you back for a fitting appointment with your Dentist in Tempe. During this time, they’ll fit the dentures into your mouth, and check whether they fit. This is the ideal time to tell them about any complaints with the fit. These may include whether the dentures are too tight, or whether it scrapes your mouth lining. Dr. Leonett will then make the necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit.
Dr. Leonett will schedule follow-up visits to ensure the dentures work as they should. In the meantime, you should wear your dentures for at least 24 hours after the surgery to get your mouth used to them. You should also remove them every night before you sleep and soak them in water.
Getting dentures is completely painless. However, as you are still new to having these prosthetics on, you might experience minor irritation. The good news is, this irritation is short-lived and dissipates within a few days. That being said, you should contact the dentist if you notice unusual swelling and bleeding when wearing your dentures.
